Wachusett Region Recycling Events – 11/9/13

During the October 26th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, 736 pound of medication was collected for proper disposal at 6 area locations. Good job!

The West Boylston Boy Scout Troop 151 will hold their redeemable bottle and can drive at the Major Edwards Elementary school, Crescent Street, West Boylston, MA, on Saturday, November 9th from 10am-1pm. All bottles and cans that are returnable in Massachusetts are accepted. The Sterling Boy Scout Troop 189 will hold their bottle and can drive also on the 9th, from 8am to 2pm, at the Sterling DPW.

Also on November 9th, donate non-perishable food items at Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury St., Holden, as a benefit for the Wachusett Food Pantry. The drive will be held from 9am to noon in the parking lot. Just drive up and volunteers will take your donations. Commerce Bank will be collecting non-perishable foods at their business locations through November 22nd.

Donate your no longer needed winter coats to Jordan Furniture’s One Warm Coat program. Any coats that are in wearable condition are accepted. Your coat will be professionally dry cleaned at Anton’s Cleaners and donated to someone in need. Coats can be dropped off at any Anton’s Cleaners or Jordan’s Furniture location. Or donate to the Sheriff’s Winter Coat Drive. New or gently-used adult’s or children’s coats can be dropped of at Wachusett Mountain, the Fitchburg Office of Community Corrections at 19 Fairmont Place, the Gardner Museum, D’Ambrosio Eye Care of Gardner, Lancaster and Athol and Independent Cleaners of Fitchburg. Donations are accepted through the beginning of December.

 America Recycles Day is November 15th this year. This day is designed to bring attention to recycling. Last year, over 3.7 millions pounds of goods were recycled during 2000+ events. Check their website to join an event or hold one of your own.
