Wachusett Region Recycling Events – 10/5/13

The DEA is holding its National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on October 26th from 10am to 2pm. Bring any unwanted prescription drugs to any drop off location. It will be accepted free of charge and anonymously. Disposing of unwanted prescription drugs this way keeps them from entering the waste stream or the water supply. Having them out of your medicine cabinet means they won’t be found and misused by anyone in your house. You can check their website for a collection location near you. Right now, the Holden and Shrewsbury police departments are listed. More locations will be added over time. The event held earlier this year collected 371 tons of medications.

Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center, 131 Raymond Huntington Highway, West Boylston, will be open on Tuesday mornings, Wednesday afternoons, and Saturday October 19th (8-11am). Personal document shredding will be available on that Saturday. See their website for information about what items are recycled for free or for a fee.

Prepare for Halloween by taking part in National Costume Swap Day on October 12th. If you’d like to hold a costume swap event, register it on their website to get additional publicity. If you’re looking for a local event or tips to holding one, check out their website for that info, too.

#6 plastics can be recycled by bringing them to ReFoamIt’s next recycling event, which will be held at Grace Church in Framingham (76 Salem End Road) on October 26th from 10am to 3pm. Any foam that has a number 6 and the letters PS on it can be brought for recycling. This event is open to the public. Check out ReFoamit’s site to learn what they accept and for the schedule of future events.

America Recycles Day is November 15th this year. This day is designed to bring attention to recycling. Last year, over 3.7 millions pounds were recycling during 2000+ events. Check their website to join an event or hold one of your own.
