Wachusett Region Recycling Events – 5/18/13


Donate your divided perennials to the Holden Garden Club’s perennial plant sale. It’s held annually at the Damon House in the center of Holden. Pot and provide a label of what the plant is, then bring them to the Damon House on Friday, May 17th from 3-7pm.The sale will be held the following day.

This Saturday, May 18, you can do some recycling and pick up something ‘new to you’ at the same time. The Mountview Middle School’s Kids in the Kommunity group will host its second annual yard sale and electronics recycling event. Washers, dryers, computers and accessories, TVs), small electronics and more will be accepted for recycling. Because this is a fundraiser, small fees will be collected for items that are dropped off for recycling. The event will be held at the Mountview School, 270 Shrewsbury Street, from 9am to 3pm.

The Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center is changing things up for May. This month they will be open from 9 to 11am on Tuesdays, in addition to having their usual Wednesday hours, 2:30 to 4:30pm. Also, they will be open on Saturday, May 18th, from 8 to 11am on both days. Document shredding will take place on the 18th. Check out their website for information about the wide range of items they accept (many for free, some with a fee). The WWRRC is open to residents of Boylston, Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland, Sterling, and West Boylston.

The Friends of the Princeton Public Library will stop accepting book donations for their book sale on Saturday, May 25. Until then, donations of adult books can be put in the in the blue box located in front of Mechanics Hall, 104 Main Street (Route 140), East Princeton. Children’s books should be dropped off inside the library (2 Town Hall Drive) during business hours. Check their website for their hours and more information about the book sale.

Paxton’s town-wide yard sale will be held on Saturday, June 15th. For $10, you can advertise your sale on the yard sale map. Or pay $15 to have your own table on the town common. Contact Paxton Lion Nick Powlovich at (508) 755-7389 to get your address on the map or for more information.

If you held a last minute yard sale at your home during Rutland’s town-wide yard sale, you can still make a donation by sending a check to the 4th of July Committee, c/o Janet Barakian, 6 Weaver Farm Road, Rutland, MA 01543. Fees to be included on the Rutland town-wide yard sale map are used to defray costs related to the 4th of July festivities.
