Wachusett Region Recycling Events – 5/11/13

The West Boylston Boy Scout Troop 151 will hold their redeemable bottle and can drive at the Major Edwards Elementary school, Crescent Street, West Boylston, MA, this Saturday, May 11th  from 10am to 1pm. All bottles and cans that are returnable in Massachusetts are accepted.

The Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center is changing things up for May. This month they will be open from 9 to 11am on Tuesdays, in addition to having their usual Wednesday hours, 2:30 to 4:30pm. Also, they will be open on Saturday, May 18th, from 8 to 11am on both days. Document shredding will take place on the 18th. Check out their website for information about the wide range of items they accept (many for free, some with a fee). The WWRRC is open to residents of Boylston, Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland, Sterling, and West Boylston.

According to a recent T&G article, the end date to donate to the 7th annual Worcester: the City that Reads book drive is June 15th. Donate gently-used or new books for children (kindergarten to 8th grade) to be distributed to organizations that serve the less fortunate and to local schools. There are many local drop-off locations – see my previous posts for the list. See this link for a list of drop off points in the city and suburbs.

Donate your divided perennials to the Holden Garden Club’s perennial plant sale. It’s held annually at the Damon House in the center of Holden. Pot and provide a label of what the plant is, then bring them to the Damon House on Friday, May 17th from 3-7pm.

Princeton’s library book sale will be held in June and they are looking for donations. Donate adult fiction and nonfiction books in good condition in the blue collection boxes on the porch of Mechanics Hall at 104 Main Street in East Princeton. Make your donations before May 23 so there will be time to sort and organize before the sale. The Friends of the Gale Free Library in Holden are also looking for donations for their bargain Book Cellar. Drop off books to the Cellar on the lower level during library business hours. The Cellar has limited hours so donations can be left outside the door if they aren’t open.
