Wachusett Region Recycling Events-3/30/13

The 7th annual Worcester: the City that Reads book drive, which runs through May 15th, is collecting gently-used or new books to be donated to organizations that serve the less fortunate and to local schools. There are many local drop-off locations – see my previous posts for the list.

A clothing drive to benefit  Cradles to Crayons will be held in Princeton from April 1st to the 11th. Cradles to Crayons is a non-profit organization that collects and distributes gently used shoes and clothing for infants to children’s size 12 to those in need in Massachusetts. More information to come.

It’s a bit early to break out the summer flip flops, but you may be thinking about what to do with those shoes you never ended up wearing these past few months. Donate them to Feet Need Shoes. You’ll find collection boxes at UPS stores in Worcester, Holden, Auburn and Westboro. Shoes should be tied together for donating. To cover shipping charges, chip in a dollar donation. For more information, visit www.soles4souls.org or Feet Need Shoes’ Facebook page.

Donate your recently worn gently-used prom dress to Anton’s Cleaners for Jordan’s Furniture’s Belle of the Ball Prom Dress Drive by this Monday, April 1st. Dresses can be dropped off to any of the associated collection partners – see the website for the complete list – or at any Jordan’s Furniture location. Prom dresses can also be donated to WHEAT Community Service’s Hidden Treasures thrift shop (272 High St., Clinton) during regular store hours – Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, 10am to 4pm and Fridays, 12 to 4pm.

Rutland’s annual town-wide yard is scheduled for Saturday, April 27,  from 8am to 2pm. Pay$15 by this Sunday, March 31st to be listed on the map that shoppers will use to find the sales. After that, the fee is $20. Make your check payable to the ‘4th of July Committee’ and mail to ‘4th of July Committee’, c/o Janet Barakian, 6 Weaver Farm, Rutland, Ma 01543.

Boy Scout Troop 189 of Sterling will hold a redeemable bottle and can drive on Saturday, April 6 from 8am to 2pm. It will be held at the Sterling DPW, 171 Worcester Road.
