Wachusett Region Recycling Events-1/5/13

Happy New Year!

Cleaning up from the holiday season? The Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center is open every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 and on Saturday, January 19th from 8 to 11am. Paper, cardboard, #6 packing blocks and packing peanuts that gifts came packaged in can be recycled for free. If you received a new cell phone, you can recycle your old one for free here too! Just remember to remove your personal information from the memory card. They accept lost of other items, some for a fee, so check out their website for more information.

Redeemable bottles and cans can be brought to the WWRRC or to the West Boylston Boy Scout Troop 151 redeemable bottle and can drive at the Major Edwards Elementary school, Crescent Street, West Boylston, MA This drive is held on the second Saturday of every month. In January, it will be held on January 12th from 10am-1pm. All bottles and cans that are returnable in Massachusetts are accepted.

ReFoamIT is holding three local recycling events in January that are open to everyone. The first is January 5th from 10am to 3pm at Grace Church, 76 Salem End Road in Framingham. Another is on January 12th at the Grafton Municipal Center, 30 Providence Rd, (event is located at the back of the municipal center – enter via Brigham Hill) from 9am to noon. There are small fees of $1 per bag or $5 per carload, so collect #6 Styrofoam from your neighbors to make it a worthwhile trip. The following day, January 13th, Shrewsbury Recycles will be holding their first #6 Styrofoam recycling event in the front parking lot at Oak Middle School, 45 Oak Street from 11am to 3pm. The same fees will be charged for this event as well, so that it can remain open to the public. They will also be collecting stuffed animals, blankets, pillows, shoes (full or half pairs), purses, clothes and curtains at the Shrewsbury event. Any foam that has the #6 and PS on it can be brought to these events.
