How to Recycle Hearing Aids

We are probably most familiar with the fact that the Lion’s Club collects eyeglasses for those in need, but they and other organizations collect and donate hearing aids.If you or someone you know has a hearing aid that you no longer are using, it can be a benefit to someone else who otherwise would go without.

Hearing aids can be put in the same Lion’s Club collection boxes as are used for eyeglasses. A  collection box is located near the entrance of the Holden Senior Center (Bascom Parkway/Highland Street entrance). Hearing aids will either be refurbished and donated to someone who needs them or taken apart and the materials recycled. Check their website for more information.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation also takes donations of hearing aids. Package it carefully and mail it to Starkey Hearing Foundation, ATTN: Hearing Aid Recycling, 6700 Washington Avenue South, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. Include your name and address so that they can send you a letter of acknowledgement.

You can list your hearing aids for sale or for sale on GetATStuff.org. GetATStuff is the New England Assistive Technology Exchange. Here people who need assistive technology items can find someone who has what they need.
