Wachusett Region Recycling Events-6/9/12

Several redeemable bottle and can drives are happening on Saturday, June 9th, 2012. The West Boylston Boy Scout Troop 151 is holding theirs at the Major Edwards Elementary school, Crescent Street, West Boylston, MA, from 10am-1pm.  If you’re heading east, stop by the Shrewsbury Town Hall between 9am and noon to drop off your redeemables. All bottles and cans that are returnable in Massachusetts are accepted.

Flag Day is June 14th, 2012. If you’re looking to properly dispose of your work and tattered American flag, you can send it to USAFlagSupply.com. They will bring it to the Sarah Hinson grave site in Woodlawn Cemetery in Buffalo New York and follow US Flag Code to dispose of it. Sarah is one of the founders of Flag Day. You’ll get 10% off a purchase if you want to get a new flag. Locally, you can drop your worn flag in the drop-off box near the customer service desk at the Big Y Supermarket (Reservoir Street, Holden, MA).

Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center, 131 Raymond Huntington Highway, West Boylston, MA is holding its hazardous chemicals and paints collection event on Saturday, June 16, 2012. In addition, it is open on Wednesday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30pm for bulk recycling.

Paxton, MA will be holding its annual Town-wide Yard Sale on Saturday, June 23, 2012, sponsored by the Lions Club. Gather anything you want to sell and get ready!

The Holden police department, along with the Millbury police department, are accepting unwanted medication at their new kiosks. Now residents can safely dispose of unwanted medications  any time of the year. The kiosks are located inside the police stations for security reasons but medications can be dropped off anonymously with no questions asked and at no cost.
