Wachusett Region Recycling Events-3/24/12


Dawson Elementary School (155 Salisbury Street, Holden, MA)  is holding a used clothing drive this Friday, March 23, 2012 from 7:30 am to 2 pm.  Gently-used adult or children’s clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, linens, curtains and soft toys can be dropped off at the school’s main entrance. Donations will benefit the school’s Parent-Teacher Organization.

This is the weekend to recycle your styrofoam and Number 6 plastics. A ReFoamIt Styrofoam recycling event will be held in Westboro, MA on March 24, 2012 at the Tufts Machine Lot on Main Street from 9am-2pm. This is a Girl Scout Silver Award project run with ReFoamIt. There’s not much time left to donate your gently-used prom dresses to Anton’s Cleaners for their Belle of the Ball Prom Dress Drive. In 2012, it runs from February 1st to April 1st. Anton’s will take your donation, clean it, and make it available on ’boutique day’ to a girl who otherwise could not afford a dress.

WHEAT Community Services is looking for prom gowns, shoes and accessories. Donations can be dropped off at the Hidden Treasure’s Store located at 180 High Street in Clinton during business hours – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10:00 – 4:00 and Friday 11:00-4:00. Gowns will be on sale to girls from low-income families starting on March 1, 2012.

Rutland’s Town-wide Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 8am to 2pm. Have a sale in your own yard or join others on the lower common to sell your stuff. Get your location put on a map for shoppers for $15 or reserve your spot on the common for $20 before March 31st (the prices rise by $5 after that). Check the town’s website for more information.

The Friends of the Gale Free Library in Holden, MA (23 Highland Street) is collecting books for this year’s used book sales. Gently-used adult and children’s books can be dropped off at the library during business hours. In addition to fiction books, they will accept books on all types of hobbies (cooking, sports, woodworking, antiques, computers, etc.). They are also looking for DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks.
