Wachusett Region Recycling Events-2/25/12


These are the last few days to bring back overdue books and pay fines with a food donation. Gale Free Library’s ‘Food Donation Pardon’ month ends on February 29, 2012. Bring a non-perishable food donation to the library during business hours and your outstanding book fines will be paid.

Dress for Success is holding their annual S.O.S. Send One Suit weekend is being held  March 1-4, 2012. As in past years, dressbarn is acting as the national collection location for your gently-used nearly new suits. Dress for Success’s mission is to “promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.” Their local affiliate is located in the Denholm Building, 484 Main Street, Suite 110, Worcester, MA 01608. A public Styrofoam recycling event will be held in Westboro, MA on March 24, 2012. It will be at the Tufts Machine Lot on Main Street from 9-2pm. This is a Girl Scout Silver Award project run with ReFoamIt. It’s prom dress season! Donate your 3-4 year old gently-used dress to:

* Anton’s Cleaners for their Belle of the Ball Prom Dress Drive. In 2012, it runs from February 1st to April 1st. Anton’s will take your donation, clean it, and make it available on ’boutique day’ to a girl who otherwise could not afford a dress.

*WHEAT Community Services. They are looking for prom gowns, shoes and accessories. Donations can be dropped off at the Hidden Treasure’s Store located at 180 High Street in Clinton during business hours – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10:00 – 4:00 and Friday 11:00-4:00. Gowns will be on sale to girls from low-income families starting on March 1, 2012.

Rutland’s Town-wide Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 8am to 2pm. Have a sale in your own yard or join others on the lower common to sell your stuff. Get your location put on a map for shoppers for $15 or reserve your spot on the common for $20 before March 31st (the prices rise by $5 after that). Check the town’s website for more information.

The Friends of the Gale Free Library in Holden, MA (23 Highland Street) is collecting books for this year’s used book sales. Gently-used adult and children’s books can be dropped off at the library during business hours. In addition to fiction books, they will accept books on all types of hobbies (cooking, sports, woodworking, antiques, computers, etc.). They are also looking for DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks.
