The West Boylston Boy Scout Troop 151 redeemable bottle and can drive will be held this Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Major Edwards Elementary school, Crescent Street, West Boylston, MA, from 10am-1pm. All returnable bottles and cans accepted. You can just drive up and they will unload for you. I’m looking forward to this-I have a lot of cans for them!

The Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center, 131 Raymond Huntington Highway, West Boylston, will be open from 2:30-4:30 pm every Wednesday and from 8-11 a.m. on the Saturday, February 18, 2012. Many items, from computers and TVs to paper and plastic, are collected at this regional center. For more information, including which items will be collected for a fee, click here.

Dress for Success is holding their annual S.O.S. Send One Suit weekend is being held  March 1-4, 2012. As in past years, dressbarn is acting as the national collection location for your gently-used nearly new suits. Dress for Success’s mission is to “promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.” Their local affiliate is located in the Denholm Building, 484 Main Street, Suite 110, Worcester, MA 01608. They can be contacted via email at worcester@dressforsuccess.org.

The Friends of the Gale Free Library in Holden, MA (23 Highland Street) is collecting books for this year’s used book sales. Gently-used adult and children’s books can be dropped off at the library during business hours. In addition to fiction books, they will accept books on all types of hobbies (cooking, sports, woodworking, antiques, computers, etc.). They are also looking for DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks.

Also at the library, February 2012 is ‘Food Donation Pardon’ month. Bring a non-perishable food donation to the library during business hours and your outstanding book fines will be paid.

It’s prom dress season! Donate your gently-used prom dress to Anton’s Cleaners for their Belle of the Ball Prom Dress Drive. In 2012, it runs from February 1st to April 1st. Dresses should be in wearable condition and no more than 3-4 years old so they are still in style. Anton’s will take your donation, clean it, and make it available on ’boutique day’ to a girl who otherwise could not afford a dress.
