Wachusett Region Recycling Events-11/26/11

Technical issues (46 viruses on my computer) left me unable to post last week but things are up and running now. Have a happy holiday everyone!

Part of your post-Thanksgiving Day activities might involve putting up Christmas lights, either on a tree or on your house. If you’re looking to get new lights this year, consider recycling your old ones. HolidayLEDs.com will give you 25% your next purchase when you send your old lights to them for recycling. You’ll need to send them with a completed form (available at their website) so that you can get your discount. They send the lights to a company that recycles them into new light parts.

The Operation Suitcase store is taking donations of clothing. It is located at One Main Street, third floor, in Whitinsville, MA and is open from noon to 5pm Sundays. They are looking for clothing for all ages, linens, shoes, books, toys, baby gear, toiletries and small household appliances. For more information, email Megan Riley at OperationSuitcase@yahoo.com.

Jordan’s Furniture’s 17th annual Coats for Kids drive is ongoing until January 8, 2012. Gently-used Mens, Womens, Childrens, and Infants coats can be dropped off at any Jordan’s Furniture or Anton’s Cleaners location. Anton’s will clean the coats prior to donation. Anton’s will accept donations from collection drives held at schools, churches, and other community or corporate organizations. Coats should be in wearable condition without any rips or tears. Check out Anton’s and Jordan’s websites for their locations. School can participate in the Coats for Kids School Rewards Program, a competition for all local schools.
