Wachusett Region Recycling Events-6/11/11

There are two redeemable bottle and can drives this Saturday, June 11, 2011. Boy Scout Troop 151’s can and bottle drive runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Major Edwards Elementary School, 70 Crescent St., West Boylston, MA. Boy Scout Troop 175’s bottle and can drive is running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden, MA.

Bikes Not Bombs is holding a Bike Drive in Northborough at the First Parish Church Unitarian Universalist, 40 Church St. on June 18, 2011. Hours of collection haven’t been determined yet.

Paxton, MA’s town-wide yard sale will be held on Saturday, June 25th, 2011, rain or shine. With a donation of $10, you can be listed on the map for shoppers. See the article in the Landmark for more information.

Flag Day is June 14, 2011. If you want to properly dispose of your worn flag, first consider the material it’s made of. Flags of nylon shouldn’t be burned in a fire as the process will release gases into the atmosphere. Consider sending your flag to American Flags Express for recycling or contact a local American Legion Post about dropping it off to them.

Don’t forget that the Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center has bulk item collections every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30. The next hazardous materials recycling is on June 18, 2011.
