Wachusett Region Recycling Events-5/7/11


ReFoamIt has several upcoming styrofoam plastic recycling events that are open to non-residents as well as residents of the towns they are being held in. They will accept packing blocks, foam takeout containers and trays, meat/produce packing trays, and packing peanuts. They will also accept plastic utensils. Upcoming dates and locations are:

May 7, 2011 in Northboro, MA at the Department of Public Works on Route 20 from 8:30am to 1pm.

May 14, 2011 in Grafton, MA at the Grafton Municipal Center, 30 Providence Road from 9am to 12pm.

The Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center is open every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 and will be open on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 8 to 11am for bulk item recycling. Some items require a fee – check their website to see what they accept and what fees they charge.

The Sterling Garden Club is accepting donations of perennial plants from your garden for their sale on May 14, 2011. Club members will come and dig up plants if needed. Check their website to for contact information.

The fifth annual Worcester: The City that Reads book drive hopes to collect 25,000 books that will be donated to schools and local organizations. Gently-used or new books will be collected through May 15, 2011. Keep an eye out for collection sites in the city of Worcester. Donate your old point-and-shoot camera to the One-Shot Project before May 15, 2011. Cameras and equipment will be brought to Iraq to so that children ages 10-17 living in below average conditions can be given an artistic-vocational opportunity. Your working point-and-shoot camera can be mailed to the address below. See their website for information on postage payment assistance.

On May 21, 2011, the Paxton Boy Scouts are holding a redeemable bottle and can drive on the Paxton Town Common. Any redeemable glass or plastic bottle, or aluminum can can be brought for drop off. They will help you unload your car, if needed
