Where to Recycle Plastic Bottle Caps

Throwing plastic bottles and containers into my recycling bin is second nature. But I always throw the bottle caps in the trash. I had heard that they are made of inferior plastic that could ruin a whole batch of potentially recyclable trash. But I found that Aveda has a recycling program that works with schools to collect recyclable bottle caps for recycling. Once you sign up with them, you can collect ‘rigid polypropylene plastic caps’ like those on milk, juice or soda bottles and certain other food products. They don’t take the ones that are not hard plastic (like yogurt container caps). See their website for the program specifics.
